Potential health problems from gmo food
GE Foods Shorten Life, Cause Tumors Says First-Ever Long-Term Study
September 20, 2012
The above named article is commentary on the first long-term study of the health effects
of consuming genetically modified corn and levels of the herbicide Roundup that are
common in some foods. The study was led by University of Caen molecular biologist
Gilles-Eric SÚralini. Rats fed the diet of gmo corn and rats fed traces of Roundup
devleoped health problems including tumors and shortened life. However, according to
http://www.alternet.org/food/6-ways-scientific-studies-can-trick-you the study may have
been statistically insignificant.
The study appeared in the peer-reviewed journal Food and Chemical Toxicology.
Most of the products in a grocery store include genetically engineered ingredients.
The potential risks to human health should be considered.
