pursue your taste - pursue the yum.

If a recipe calls for an ingredient not available where you normally shop, you can try this list of sources for uncommon foods and kitchen tools.

Apple carrot sunflower seed paste:
Put into a mixing and/or portion bowl put:
  2 tablespoons apple fiber powder
or 1 tablespoon whole apple powder
    or 2 tablespoons applesauce
2 teaspoons carrot powder (equivalent to 1 ounce fresh carrot)
1 tablespoon sunflower seed butter, (see *note below)
  2 tablespoons oat flour
  1 teaspoon water
  2 teaspoons canola oil
1 teaspoon sugar (use 2 teaspoons if apple is low sweetness,
if the apple is exceptionally sweet and mild use 1/2 teaspoon sugar),
  1 pinch salt
Put all the ingredients into a mixing and/or portion bowl.

Mix.

Makes enough for about 1 third to 1 half of a light meal.

Sweet and tangy and dessert-like.

* Boiled sunflower seed butter: A convenient way to make sunflower seed butter is to use a blender that is made with a blender jar being a lidded storage container. If the blender jar is 1 cup or so it takes up little space in the fridge. The seed butter can be made in a batch and used as needed for, I suppose, a month or so.

Fill a high speed processor or blender perhaps one-half full with non roasted sunflower seeds. Add enough canola oil to fill about 2 thirds of the air space in the seeds. Process until smooth.

Put 1 tablespoon of the butter into a small bowl and mix in 1 teaspoon water. Mcrowave until fully boiling, maybe 60 seconds in a 1000 watt microwave. The heating removes bitterness, the water is necessary for the microwaves to be absorbed.
