Blackout: Coal, Climate and the Last Energy Crisis by Richard Heinberg

Presents reasons to believe that oil supplies are dwindling and coal will follow suit sometime within 20 to 40 years. There are no viable alternatives that are presently able to take over in supplying the amount of energy that our present ways of living require. Technological breakthroughs should not be expected to makeup for diminishing fossil fuel energy. Our best course of action is to begin a tranition to a new strategy for maintaining our quality of life to the best possible extent. That strategy is a reduction in consumption of energy.
