Review/summary of NPR program "Book Weighs Cultural Effects of Climate Change"
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5231582

This is summary of an npr interview with Eugene Linden, author of The Winds of Change: Climate, Weather, and the Destructions of Civilization.

Climate changes have caused civilizations to fall - the Vikings and the Mayans. That suggests that climate changes happening now will have large effects on present day civilization. Property insurance rates will go up so much that insurance will be unfordable for many people. Climate change may result in an increase in disease, civil unrest, food shortage, economic loss, and natural disasters. Yet most people are complacent. If we take steps to prepare, the consequences of climate change will be less ruinous.
