"Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash"
The production of oil has reached a peak and will begin declining while demand will continue to increase. There are no alternative sources of energy that can be scaled up to replace the quantity of energy needed to sustain our way of life. People will have to largely abandon transportation, shipping, and consumption of goods and services which are based on oil. Population cannot be maintained at present levels.
Policy changes now can lessen to some degree the inevitable negative consequences of oil shortages but governments are making no more than token policy changes that are too little to help.
